Agios Demetrios

The settlement of Agios Dimitrios belongs to Achilleio, located in an area lush with olive trees by the Euboean Gulf, opposite Northern Euboea. A beautiful route by the sea leads the visitor from the village of Achilleio to the settlement. Also, a coastal rural road beyond the settlement leads to the chapel of Agios Dimitrios, passing through extensive olive groves that reach the sea.

The settlement is full of small picturesque beaches that flood with visitors in the summer. The area is an ideal spot for amateur fishermen and nature lovers. Two small islets “guard” the entrance to the bay of Agios Dimitrios. The larger one is called Argyronisos, while between it and the mainland there is a smaller islet. According to Strabo, these two islets were called Pyrra and Deucalion in ancient times.

In the settlement, there are clean rooms for rent and seaside taverns, offering visitors the opportunity for a comfortable vacation. However, besides the visitors, about 50 residents live permanently in the settlement.
