Anavra

Until 2010, the Local Community of Anavra was an independent community, but since early 2011, it has been part of the Municipality of Almyros. In recent years, Anavra has developed a rich network of cultural resources that attract visitors from all over the country.

Noteworthy is the Environmental Cultural Park “GOURA,” created at the springs of Anavra. The Enippeas River originates from these springs. The park features a network of trails, with a main paved path and branches, protective railings at dangerous points, bridges at five key locations, retaining walls made of stone masonry, equipment including wooden tables and benches, trash bins, a playground, and more. Signage and informational panels have also been installed, providing details about the park’s attractions, fauna, flora, and other features.

Additionally, the Alogorachi Wind Farm is one of the most important projects in Anavra. It is a significant environmental project with particular importance and impact. The Alogorachi Wind Farm is located on Mount Othrys, at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters.

Other points of interest in the village include the Folklore Museum of Pastoral Life and the Anavra Library. In the surrounding area, there are sites of archaeological interest, such as three Hellenistic castles and the Early Helladic cemetery. The mountainous nature, of course, also conceals other treasures, such as stone bridges, caves, and more.

According to the 2001 census, Anavra has 987 inhabitants.
